The Things That Were There

16TH & 20TH APRIL 2019
THEATRE FESTIVAL PENDING
HEN AND CHICKENS THEATRE

As part of the emerging artists festival, Theatre Festival Pending, Valerie Christiansen directs David Greenspan’s The Things That Were There.

“The Things That Were There” is a new play by award-winning playwright and performer David Greenspan. “The Things That Were There” is a memory play and a meditation on loss.  Set on the occasion of a celebratory dinner, the play dramatizes the events and relationships of a family over many years. Past incidents are recalled and, at times, re-lived. Certain scenes begin again with slight or significant variation as a means of investigating family relationships through a continually shifting lens, exploring the tragic and comic potential of events and interactions.

Love and Loss are universal topics; however, we are much better at examining love than loss.  True love never ends or dissipates, it simply transforms. The Things That Were There explores energetically where out love goes after we experience loss.
